Klara Andric

Hon. Klara Andric MLC, Member for South Metropolitan Region, is a dedicated advocate for social justice, community development, and women's rights. She is committed to improving the lives of her constituents and creating a more equitable future for all.

On 24 May 2021, Klara proudly became the first Serbian born elected to a Parliament of Western Australia and the first Serbian born woman elected to a Parliament in Australia.

Klara was born in Novisad, Serbia, and migrated to Australia with her family as a young child from former Yugoslavia. Her migration from a war-torn country instilled in her a deep understanding of the struggles faced by migrant families who embark on the journey to Australia, this shaped her passion for social justice and equality.

After completing her university education, Klara began her career in public service, driven by a desire to give back to the State that gave her so many opportunities. She has worked in various roles, gaining valuable experience and insight into the needs of diverse communities across Western Australia. Her dedication to community service and advocacy eventually led her to pursue a career in politics.

In 2021, Klara was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council, representing the South Metropolitan Region. She has since become a vocal advocate for women's rights, social justice, and community empowerment. Her work in Parliament is guided by her commitment to creating a fairer society, where everyone has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or where they come from.

As a proud representative of the South Metropolitan Region, Klara is focused on delivering positive outcomes in key areas such as jobs, education, health, infrastructure, transport, women’s interests and community projects. Every day, she strives to be a strong voice for her community, advocating for policies that promote equality and opportunity for all.

Klara's journey from migrant to Parliament is a testament to her resilience and commitment to serving her community. She is proud representative of the South Metropolitan Region and is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she serves.
